DESTINED TO LEAD WINNER
ORLANDO, FL 2022
ADDISON
Addison has been dancing with her teacher since before there was a studio. Starting at age 2 she has been dancing with Mrs. Kendall and her dance family. Addison has remained active throughout her school career in both academic and extracurricular activities. She is year after year described as her teacher’s helper and consistently sought out to lead her classmates. Last year she was nominated for Safety Patrol by her teachers and National Honors Society. This year, her 5th Grade year she is involved in Safety Patrol, National Honors Society, Kindness Club and Battle of the Books.
In Safety Patrol she helps escort a Kindergarten student with Downs Syndrome to class everyday by choice of that teacher. She also raises the flags in the mornings and welcomes all students in the car line.
In National Honors Society she volunteered to pick up trash around the school, participated in collecting canned goods for a local food bank and make Christmas Cards for health care workers, sanitation workers, bus drivers and school staff. She is also currently participating in an initiative to collect funds to support pediatric cancer patients called Cannonball Kids Cancer.
Addison is also involved in a school club called the “Kindness Club”. In order to be selected for the club she had to submit an application and be selected by the teachers. This club represents acts of kindness and works to spread kindness throughout the school to all grade levels. Some activities include making “Hello” signs and welcoming all incoming students with messages of kindness, making kindness rocks that they hid around the school for students to find and win prizes, and they are currently making a kindness book that has each students definition of what kindness means to them. Their book is being published and will be available in the school library and available for purchase.
The other club Addison was selected to join this year was the Battle of the Books club. This is a very small group (5 students and 1 alternate) representing their school in a County-wide competition. They meet twice a week before school to review the “Sunshine State” books and study for an end of season competition against other schools throughout Orange County. Addison’s team placed 3rd in the county.
Outside of academics and dancing 5 days a week, Addison also actively plays soccer and flag football. She has played soccer since she was about 5 years old for the city of Winter Garden and has recently found a passion for playing Flag Football with i9 Sports.
Addison has been viewed as a leader of her friends, classes, and teams for as long as I remember. She assists one day a week at her dance studio to assist the mini dance team with their trio routine. The girls all look up to her and gravitate towards her positivity and kindness. She is trusted by her teachers, friends, classmates and family to do the right thing and teaches others to do the same.
