Our Destiny Family
Matt Dillard
National Director/CTO
After starting in 1995 as a backstage manager, Matt has spent the last 22 years in the dance competition industry, working his way up to serve as the National Director for one of the fastest growing competitions in the United States. After losing his close friend, Chuck Crist, and his father shortly after, Matt decided to take some personal time off from the industry and focus on raising his newborn son while figuring out exactly what direction he wanted to take in life. Of course, it would not take long before it was clear that Matt’s destiny would be to create a quality talent competition, in honor of the loved ones he has lost, along with some incredible friends that he met along the way!
Colin Dunn
Creative Director/CEO
With over 30 years of experience in photographing dance competitions, Colin has built an extensive knowledge of all aspects of the industry. It’s with this knowledge that he wanted to design a competition known for its professionalism and incredible quality, yet still affordable to all. After working along side Matt Dillard for so many years and eventually forming a strong friendship, it was clear to Colin that they shared very much the same vision and values in a building a successful competition starting with a family-like atmosphere. Being a perfectionist and detail oriented, Colin’s constant drive is making sure that every performer, teacher, and parent is impressed from the moment they walk in the door at a Destiny competition. Furthermore, Colin feels that every dancer should be provided with amazing photos of their performance at no additional cost. He therefore decided to bring his own personal photographic experience to Destiny - so chances are if you are performing on the Destiny stage you’re being photographed by an actual competition director!
In addition to Destiny, Colin and his wife, Diana, are also successful studio owners in the Central Florida area. They both work hard to create a strong love of dance for their students through education and personal involvement. Colin spends his limited free time traveling with his amazing wife wherever and whenever possible!
Colin dedicates all of his hard work to the memory of his best friend, Chuck Crist, who was forever the showman and would stop at nothing to make someone feel better with laughter!
Diana Dunn
Regional Director
What started as medicinal treatment 36 years ago, turned into a great love and passion for the art form. Once Diana started dancing, there was no stopping her. She later graduated from the University of South Florida with a Bachelor of Arts in Dance Performance with a concentration in ballet. She then went on to perform at Walt Disney World, as well as for numerous production companies throughout the Central Florida area.
Diana took ownership of her childhood studio in the middle of the pandemic in 2020 in order to keep it open for all of the students. Becoming a studio owner has provided so much growth for her as a person. Although her degree is in dance performance, her passion is in teaching. Shaping young dancers and preparing them for the real dance world gives her so much joy!
When not teaching or on the road with the Destiny, Diana and her amazing husband Colin like to spend time with their sweet basset hound Zoey. They also love to spend time traveling the world together whenever possible!
Diana has also been working in the competition industry for the past 13 years and has seen amazing things at Destiny. It’s not just about winning first place, it’s also about all the friends and wonderful memories you make along the way. Diana believes that being a studio owner has helped her become a better director for Destiny. She understands the questions and concerns from the studio owners, teachers, and parents, because she has personally been a part of all those involved. She looks forward to many more years alongside Colin and Matt in making Destiny National Talent Competition the absolute best it can be!
